Default Widest rear tire on 2012 Sportster 48?

Hi, I am new to this forum. I have a 2012 sportster 48 and was wondering what the widest rear tire i could fit on the stock rim without making any mods to the fender or rim? Stock tire size is a 150, Looking to get the widest tire possible? Any inquiries please let me know, post any pics. Thanks!

The Metz ME880 160/80-16 will fit on the Sporty without modification and is designed to fit a 3.00" - 4.50" wheel. It's a real tight fit, but goes.

Read the post above yours again! That size of tyre is NOT recommended for a stock width rim. It would be most unwise IMHO to even try it (in other words, downright foolish!). On my Glide I have used a 150 tyre on the stock 3" rim, but to go to a 160 I replaced the wheel with a 4.5" rim. You have the widest tyre already, with the exception of the 160 cHarley mentioned.

Something is fishy with this..... he never posted pics and the factory wheel is just what it is. 150 is what fits. I wear size 11 shoes.. i can put 14's on but it changes everything. A nice little jog would end up being a shoe off and a busted ***. you catch my drift?

Sounds fishy, but i checked his pics on the XLForum. It is a 180 tire. Just hard to believe its actually able to fit and be used on the road. Read the Manual
