Default Friends sportster oil leak

[B] a friends 2008 1200 sportster with 34000 miles was running fine. , SHE parked it and about 1 hour later had A decent pool of oil under it. Had. A rocker box seal go out a while back, she got that fixed and now says it is not from the top of the motor. It"s A gal"s here At the bar. Any ideas? Dealership is 50 miles away. I hAd a 98 fatboy and thought maybe drain hose plug clamp loosened,,,, any help will be appreciated[/

The first step would be to clean it all up. This allows you to get a good idea of where it's coming from.

Then, you can start trying to figure out where it is coming from, if it's being blown around or dripping/running. Oil leaks can be funny.

clean it, start from top to bottom.....gaskets, o ring (primary), hoses/clamps and even oil tank. they are plastic and have been known to split/crack and leak. good luck

+1 On the clean it up to find the leak, 34,000 on a 08 i'm guessing is around 6,800 miles a year, that's awesome to be able to ride that much, Good Luck

i appreciate the replies. Do know what to look for, I was more looking for if anyone had specific past experience they could comment about with similar symptoms. Thanks again

There's literally nothing anyone else could say.

In my experience, oil has leaked from pretty much anywhere oil runs.

So, obviously, the only way to identify where the leak is coming from is to clean the bike up and find the source.
