Need to know 1986 883 Hugger fork length
Oops, put wrong year in title, it is a 1989 model....
I just bought a nice 1989 883 Hugger and as the front end seems a little high I would like to know the measurement of the stock 1989 Hugger front forks from axle center to the top of the fork tube not including the cap, with the forks fully extended.
I've looked at the parts fiche at Ronnie's online and all the parts for the front forks including the springs are the same part number. The only difference I can find between the 1989 Hugger and the standard 883 is the rear shock number is different. The Hugger shows a 12 1/2" eye to eye distance for the rear shock and that is what is on my Hugger. I'm wondering if the early low model (Hugger) was the same as the standard except for the rear shock length.
I also find I cannot lower the headlight to proper aim, it is too high so that is why I am wondering if the forks are no shorter on the Hugger than a standard 883 or if the forks on my bike have been extended.
Thanks for replies. L. D.

fork length
I've got an '89 Hugger and believe that fork length is about 23". Full length is about 32", maybe 33.
It is worth bearing in mind, that the early four speed sporties had a narrower diam front fork until they were changed to 39m/m. Maybe an idea to check fork width just in case they were shorter.
