Default Fixing a silly mistake (foot peg edition)

So a few weeks ago I got all googlyeyed and scored a set of RSD moto pegs pretty cheap. When they came in it was clear I was going to have a problem. The pegs were 90* male clevises...the bike requires 45* pegs. The right side, no biggie. You can loosen the set screw and rotate the clevis to 90*. The left side posed an issue, the clevis/mid mount are all one piece.

I ended up buying a set of universal clevis mounts off eBay for $15.

I then chopped the clevis off the mid mount bracket then smoothed it flat.

Then I drilled a pilot hole in the center(ish) and followed up with a bit larger enough for the bolt to pass through, then a slightly larger bit for the clevis to actually be able to sink into the mid mount bracket.

It ended up my drill battery died so I was only able to go about 1/8" with the larger bit. I'll have to finish it up this weekend but I was the clevis mount to recess in about another 1/2" or so. That way it doesn't stick out so far.

There ya go. You get the general idea. Ill try to finish it up over the weekend and post the finished product but I can now rotate the clevis to accommodate and peg I want.

Photobucket is kind of a pain in the ***. Try uploading the images to imgur.com.

I saw 'em, though. Good write up and nice work. Turned out pretty sweet.

I'm going to rattlecan the mount black for now.

Im holding off on my powdercoating for right now. I REALLY want to get my own gun/oven/etc and do it myself. I figure I can get a used household oven for cheap/free then about $150 for a gun. As it sits between my motorcycle(s) and atv projects I have a bunch of parts that need powder. Thing is if I dropped them off at my usual shop I'd run up at bill of $500+. So I figured I might as well wait until I get my own setup.

If I'm being totally honest I didn't mention that I also bought a left side mid mount off Ebay for $10 and that's what I chopped up. It really was quite simple and only took about 45 minutes.
