Andrews Cams

XL Cam noise is more a factor of establishing proper gear mesh, and valvespring tension. If you're running heavy springs, and if your cam gears don't mesh perfectly, you'll have a bit more valvetrain noise. Clicking may not be nice to hear, but, it doesn't hurt anything. If your cam gears are whining, the gear mesh is too tight - you need to pull it apart and get the properly sized gears pressed on.

I installed the cams using their directions and checked clearances as it showed so I very sure that that part is right. I have narrowed it down to the front exhaust valve. It looks like either a bent push rod, bad rocker or the rocker bushing. I can spin the motor over to t.d.c. and place a screwdriver on top of the valve and raise the rocker up enough to see light between the rocker and the valve.

The gap between the rocker arm and valve was caused by the rocker arm shaft and the bushings. The shaft has 2 bad grooves where the bushings ride and the bushings were elongated. Looks kind of like they had been oil starved at some time. I know that oil is not the issue now for sure because I put a new oil pump on after the cam change. Just hope the socket where the push rod goes isn't damaged looks kinda border line. Hope to get back to the normal noise before long.
