So last night I started my rebuild and did not set timing before disassembly and now I'm stuck. I don't know how to set crank to proper position, I set the cams properly but am realizing that if I take them off, turn the crank 360 and try it again cams goes on as well. There's a mark on the oil pump that is confusing me when the mark is facing the outside of the engine I'm able to set cams. when I take out the cams turn the crank 360 the oil pump mark now faces the inner engine and I am able to set cams too. does this mark have anything to do with crank position? Anyone know how to set crank position? there is nothing in the manual regarding this. please help!
I'll snap you a picture of mine tonight when I get home. I've got mine disassembled at the moment and the cam cover off, timing marks lined up and everything.
You can go off IRON1250's pic, but the cams have different marks on them than what the paper shows.
