Default Installed New Handlebars - Biltwell Chumps

It took me about 9 months to decided on new handlebars, and man I am happy I went with 8" chumps. Not only do I love the way they look, they are incredibly comfortable. I LOVE my riding position now.

It is sort of common knowledge on this forum that chumps can be installed without extending any wires or replacing the brake line (if you bend the stock line). This is true, but it is very close. I ended up replacing the brake line because I wanted a new one anyway. My only regret was taking the advice of a couple people at J&P Cycles and going with a 46" brake line. 44" or 42" would have been fine and I plan on eventually replacing it. No big deal. A brake bleeding mini-vac is well worth the money as well.

I had to reroute the clutch cable and had to rework my wire tuck a bit, but overall it was a pretty easy job. I wouldn't call it a "one beer" mod as many claim, it was more like a 3 beer job. I guess it depends on how fast you drink. Much easier with a second pair of hands too.

My first step was to scuff up the chrome with a light sanding and some Scotch-Brite pads. I just like them better that way.

I love these bars. Best mod I have made so far. Many more changes still on the list.

Those bars look great. You broke the spring seat AND shocks rule though.

That looks good. I struggled between the Chimps and Friscos. I went with the Frisco, but the Chumps look great and more comfy.

Have you considered running the wires internally?

I love how your tank turned out. Great bike overall.

Rules? I thought motorcycle riders hate rules!

I ride 2-up with my girlfriend often, I need shocks

Friscos were my second choice and I almost got them. I thought about doing internal wires but decided the only way I will ever TRULY love the look of my bars is if they were totally bare. I figure with all the giant ugly controls on there anyway, I would just save some time/effort and not go internal... for now. One day I would love to clean up that mess.

Yeah I get it, but...

1) I don't follow other people's "rules" when it comes to my bike.
2) I love the way that seat looks, including the springs.
3) I love the comfort of that seat, including the springs.
4) See #1
