Default 883 Iron exhaust

I just bought a 2013 iron 883 last weekend. Took it out on the road and absolutely loved it! However the sound didn't sound like the Harley "growl." Looking for suggestions for exhaust systems on a lower budget. Also, what diameter is the stock exhaust pipes?

1) Search, it's your friend. Lots of discussion in regards to exhausts
2) Slip-on's are cost effective, if you're really in a pinch for $$, you can either, drill out the core/baffle or take a long slim prybar and punch through the baffle until you can save up funds

Rush, Licks, Bassani, Vance and Hines....

There are a lot of different exhausts for lots of different price ranges. Do a search.

Welcome to HDF from the UK. No need to rush into this! Ride, enjoy, and let your ideas develop. You may meet another Sporty owner with just the thing you like. We each hear things differently and on-line sound tracks don't help a lot either.

I've got a buddy with his stock exhaust baffles bored out and I love the sound. With looking around I've seen a lot of speculation about the newer Iron's having catalytics in the tips of the exhaust. Anything to confirm or deny that? Or is it safe to just drill away?

i didnt want to drop a lot of coin on new slip-ons or a full system quite yet so i went the cheaper route and got some used ones off CL.. went with Screamin Eagle SPs. enough growl for me without being too harsh on the ears. and if i decide i want more (ill go to a full system down the road eventually) then I'm only out 75 bucks and a couple hours of time i spent going to pick them up.

I have a set of rinehart slip-ons black ceramic with chrome tips i'd part with for $350. See them in video. they sound and look real nice on an Iron. if you like 2 into 1 the defender has been seeing a lot of love lately. cycle shack slip-ons are good too.

As hard as it will be, wait. Do a lot of video watching and reading, and then wait some more. I jumped on a set of V&H short shots when I first bought my bike and I thought I had done a ton of research. Now I keep finding more and more cool pipes that I wish I had known about before like the D&D Bobcat, Sik Pipes, etc.

Cycle Shacks are very cost effective. They sound great, IMO, and they are good performers. Should be able to find them new for $150 or less. I have a pair of MXL-130T's.
