Hello iam new to this site. i have a 2008 Sportster 1200XL ( Nightster model ) . i have the factory peanut gas tank on it . looking to get a bigger tank like 4.5 . what all i have to change / buy or mod on bike ??? will 3.3 be best best for upgrade size ???? i was wondering the same info . i like the tank but i like to ride without stopping often but with the smaller tank i have too . at least we don't have the 48 tank it is . i guess smaller

 

The main thing would be the seat.

 

Bolt on, different seat.

 

Nightster has a gap between seat & 3.3 gallon tank.
Shouldn't need to change seat.

 

how much extra gallons / riding mpg vs the peanut tank vs 3.3 gallon ? anyone know seats that will with 4.5 tank ? anyone have pictures of how sportster looks with the bigger tank ?

 

does the 4.5 gallon tank still requite the kit to make it fit ?? anyone think it worth it ?? thanks !!!

 

unless you're doing some long haul riding, which I don't assume you're doing on a nightster anyways, why is it that big of a deal to stop every 2 hours for gas?

 

I rode from md to florida and back on my 883... on the way down, i hated the frequent stops; on the way back, I was thanking the gods for gas breaks every hour. the pain was unbelievable.
