So... the dermel worked... but not well.
It ended up being more a grinding than a cutting.

I did get a little scratch on the paint, but it's in a spot that won't be seen once the strut covers and turn signals are on. Still I'm taking the time to apply some touch up paint. (if for no other reason that protecting the remaining paint)

Bottom line... make sure you get the pop rivets in right the first time cause removing them is kind of a bitch.
