Harley Black Texture Aerosol - 98606BF

I used it to repaint my cam cover when I cut it down. It of course will mismatch at first, since it's new spray, but after a few runs the heat will help match it back up to the rest of the engine. I've had no issues with it at all, as long as your prep work is good, you'll have great results.

Luckily for me...the Iron is mostly texture black on the engine anyway. I stuck the rockers in a degreasing solution, scrubbed them down, air blasted them, then gave them a rough up with scotch pads, rubbed down with acetone, air blasted dry again, tac clothed, then sprayed.

I painted my Nightster engine with the Harley TEXTURE Black engine paint. Just do what Kontankerous said about prep and you'll be fine. The paint wears like iron and I haven't had any problems with it. But remember - Harley makes two versions of black engine paint. One is called Texture Black, which is a flat black paint that looks like it has sand mixed in with it. The other is called WRINKLE Black. Wrinkle Black is a gloss black paint that sprays on smooth but when it dries it creates a glossy wrinkled finish. I wasted $20 on a can of wrinkle before I realized that wasn't what I wanted.

I degreased my engine and used VHT high heat engine paint. It was like $9.00 a can. Wears like a champ.

One can was enough. But I would buy 2 cans just in case. I really liked the VHT Gloss black engine paint. Holds up well and does not fish eye just incase you missed oil residue.
