Pro: a little less expensive.
Con: after a few weeks you'll wish you bought a 1200.

Pro: the engine will last a loooooong time if taken care of. and you can make it a 1200
easily.
Neg: Lacks power as a stock unit.

Pros: Not expensive, looks good, add a few things and even look better.
Cons: Low on power, not comfortable, you will want to go 1200 soon.

You will probably get a bunch of people bashing sportsters, half of which probably never road one. The stock seat will suck and the rear shocks not great, but that is true of many bikes. Put a mustang seat and even low priced progressive socks (1" over stock would help) and it will feel like a different bike. Tons of accessories and mods possible. Lots of late model low mileage choices out there. The 1200 is the same bike with bigger positions, probably will be happier with it, same size, weights no more.
