When I first installed the combo gauge and turned on the ignition, I realised I forgot to install the jumper. Then I turned it off, installed the jumper and turned it back on.

Do you guys think turning it on without the jumper at first might be causing the problem?

Anybody got a solution from the dealer?

Hi Airframer,

I think this information is for the Sportster Fuel Gauge Kit (75031-09) setup. The analog tach combo gauge has a different setup method (with the button behind the gauge).

Do you think this setup (with the turn signals) has to be done as well as the setup with the button behind the combo gauge?

Ok I did I little research and found 2 similar official H-D documents.

1. http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US...ts/-J05412.pdf

This is the document you shared. I tried doing it the way it describes, but when I turn the key from IGN to ACC and then hold both turn signal buttons pressed, nothing happens... Am I doing something wrong?

2. http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US...ts/-J05551.pdf

This is the document that came with my combo gauge. If you take a look, it describes the steps to set the fuel tank size differently (by using the button behind the gauge and turning the key. Not using the turn signals.). This is the way I set my fuel tank size, etc.

Do you think this might be the problem? Maybe it has to be done using the first method (turn signals)...

Another thing that caught my attention is the documents' REV. dates. Document 1 (the one you shared) is dated 2014-01-15, document 2 (the one came with my gauge) is dated 2012-06-29.

So this means, they recently changed the gauge setup instructions for some reason... What do you guys think?

The version I have is for my 2014 Sportster Iron and doesn't have buttons on it. I apologize if I caused confusion.

Now it makes sense, guess we have different versions of the gauge. Because yours doesn't have the button, you do the setup process using the turn signal buttons.

Still no solution for our inaccurate fuel gauge problem... Really annoying!

Anyone know how to reset the ECM or the combo gauge? I think this might fix the fuel gauge problem...

I'm having the same problem. I have a 2013 Sportster 72. I installed the Combo Digital Speedometer/Analog Tachometer (P/N: 70900274) and Fuel Level Sensor Kit (P/N: 61200008). The low fuel light comes on, but the fuel gauge never drops below 1/2 tank (2 bars). It also never gives me the correct remaining millage. I have taken my bike to the Harley dealership and they couldn't fix it either.

Has anyone figuared this out yet? or have any answers?

Thumbs up

Try disconnecting the battery and then see if that helps. I had some issues w/ mine acting weird w/ the gauge going completely blank and I disconnected the battery and everything was fine after. Just a thought.
