Default Bike just clicks wont start

Hello. I have a 2008 Nightster. Today I tried to start the bike and it just clicked. It was working fine a week ago.

I read about cleaning the battery cables. and the ground wire. I will try to do that tonight. Someone also spoke about cleaning the wire that goes to the starter selenoid. Where is this located and how do I clean it?

Is there any other possible problems? The battery is not that old.

probably just need to tighten the battery cables up. I wouldn't look further till you rule that out.

I'd start by measuring the battery voltage. If it's less than 12.6 volts it needs charging or has gone bad.

Ditto to both of the above comments.

Verify the battery is charged and verify that the connection between the battery and the bike is good on all points.

I had same issue on my 09 Iron last year. Did all the battery cable checks. Mine turned out to be a relay. I changed both and haven't had issue again.

Default Charge your battery

Sounds like a battery with low voltage. Invest in a battery tender for those long periods of no riding.

A Trickle charger should not be used to "maintain" a battery, it will literally cook the battery.
You should use a Float charger which is often referred to as a Battery Tender.

This is what I have been following to get an 82 shovel up and running.

If all the pages dont open up correctly, click the button that says Open With Different Viewer on the top right of the page. have fun!

If the cable and battery suggestions don't work, try tapping firmly on the solenoid with the handle of a BFS (Big Scredriver) while trying to start the bike. If this works, your solenoid might be going bad.
