Wheelie Help
#5
Well first, you're not going to be able to do it stock. Better get at least a 1200 kit and some cams would help. That 883 barely has enough power to get a 200lb man down the road, yet off the road. Secondly, I want the same thing but it's gonna be hard to find someone on the forum to tell you how. Just go out, rip the throttle, and pop the clutch. It's best you try on a dirt bike first though, you don't want to lay down your nighty.

53 year old, 190 lb., bad right leg and foot.
No doubt a more skilled rider could take it down the road on the back wheel...but an 883 has no trouble lifting the front wheel off the ground.
It's really not that hard to wheelie...it takes more to wheelie and not crash or come down too hard on the front end.
How to do it...I don't know that I could cover every nuance/detail. Been doing wheelies since I was 7 or 8 years old, just second nature.
I did learn in the dirt (on a dirt bike), though I have met a lot of guys that learned on asphalt.
Whatever you learn on...it is a learning process that will almost assuredly include some spills....a dirt bike in the dirt will be more forgiving.

'Ever hear of "leap frogging"? That's how guys back in my day used to get the front wheels off the ground with their small block ['70-'72] Chevelle's. And if it can be done with a 3370 lb. four wheeled vehicle, you can be damn sure it can be done with a 572 lb. motorcycle with an experienced rider on it

How long have you been riding motorcycles? Do you have any experience doing wheelies on other bikes? Make sure you have someone with a GoPro there to capture your attempt so we can all see how you make out.
