LED Turn Signal Wiring (2 wire vs. 3 wire)
Hi Guys,
I ordered a pair of LED turn signals for the front of my 48. The LEDs are 2 wire, whereas the stock ones are 3 wire. I'm guessing this is because the LEDs are set up to flash only and the stock ones are set up to run and flash.
I'm cool with them only flashing (no need for the running lights) but can I just use the two wires? Also, which input of the 3 should I leave blank?
thanks

Those are pretty easy to put on the rear as they're single filament (turn, not run/brake). The fronts are dual filament, and as such, you'll have a wire for each:
Run
Turn
Ground
I'm colourblind so I can't tell you which is run and turn (but the black is ground!) but if you have a voltmeter you can just see which one has constant power (run) and which one modulates (turn). Or you can wire up the ground, and touch each of the wires individually to the exposed wire on the new light, and see how it responds.
I'm sure someone will chime in and tell you which color serves which function, though.
Or, cough, get a manual.

Check out this thread, it has more info: http://xlforum.net/vbportal/forums/s....php?t=1614177
I already have a load equalizer installed for my rear LEDs so the blink rate should be correct at least

If you've got a load equalizer you should be fine (though I don't think it's necessary). You can use a wire-nut to cap off the live wire: http://www.ehow.com/how_6217563_cap-...-hot-wire.html

u can wire up the 2 wire led to the 3 wire stock harness ... if u wish
iv done it on a few hondas - its the same basic idea ... ya need diodes radio shack part number 276-1103
similar like this photo -- colors will differ as its honda .....
the diodes will keep the flow in one direction -
so the 3 wire stock harness
--- run wire goes to one diode --
--- blink to the other diode----
which then gets connected to the power side of the led light
ground of led to ground of harness
it should be the same idea iv never done it though on an hd YET
