Default Sporty won't start up after S&S install?

Hey Guys, I need some help. I just installed a S&S stealth air cleaner kit on my 2001 Sportster. Everything went smooth with the install but the bike won't start now. Turned the key to on, made sure the fuel is on, and then on start up all it does is turn over and over and over... no "vroom". Any help please!?

Update: I got it started and was letting it warm up when it sputtered out and cut off about 30 seconds later.... Help?

Did you accidentally pull out any of the ignition wires?

Nope, plus the bike started up once. I think it may be a "fuel" problem somehow, I'm stumped.

Changing an air filter will not cause any fuelling problem, so there can only be one of two possibilities here! Either you have disturbed something while removing the old and installing the new filter, or by coincidence a new problem has cropped up. The last is very unlikely! I suggest you very very carefully retrace your filter removal and install, to see if something has become dislodged, or shorted.

Sounds like you disconnected the vaccum line that allows fuel to flow from the petcock, with this disconnected you get no fuel even with the petcock on.

Check for a vacumm line between the carb and the petcock, it will probably be a plastic tube. Once you ran the bowl dry it was done. Rehook up the vaccum line and should be good to go.

echoing the previous posters, the air filter is on the back end of the system. Try opening the gas cap, you have vapor lock which will screw up the bikes ability to run. If that isn't the case like they said retrace your steps and make sure nothing is disconnected.

And he winner is.... Stereoguy
After 2 hours, google searches, and lots of swearing... I fixed it. Apparently I messed up the vacuum pressure after installing my air cleaner kit so I had to vent the tank disconnect/reconnect my vacuum line to the petcock

Thanks for all the help guys
