Yea, the rear one fits a bit less snugly than my old chrome ones but I attribute that to them also being wrapped underneath. They look good enough as long as your not standing next to and over them. And the wrap will help keep the heat off the shields and increase scavaging.

Cosmetic upgrade - Chrome Headbolt Covers HD#44432-04
Before

After

Just to cover the discoloration on the heads. There are also covers that match the lines of the heads, but I like chrome.

Looks good. I've considered the black finned, but haven't pulled the trigger. I keep thinking I may do this one day to accomplish same plus "eliminate" the coil.

Pretty far down on my priority list though.

Any idea why the heads are discolored there? Hard to tell from the photo's but it looks like the finish was burned off. Don't know that I've seen that on a Sporty before. I see it quite frequently on Twin Cams that have gotten too hot.

It could have been due to heat before I bought the bike. It was already there. This bike was a rental before I got it so those renter probably didn't care how they treated the bike.

I have the bike checked over every year. I monitor my temp and it usually run 360-380, but in stop and go, I have gotten up to 450-460 once.

The heat would be the concern for me as well if using these covers.
Seems like it would somewhat prevent airflow around the sparkplug
area.
