If you want the stock pipes, there are plenty of 2007-2013 available.. Why go to the trouble of trying to drill them out?
Harley changed where the cross-connect between the pipes are. Instead
of running from muffler to muffler (and needing gaskets), the cross-connect is now welded between the header pipes. Also, if changing pipes, the new location of the rear master cylinder changed the way the rear
pipe is routed and mounted.
Pretty much stuck to exhausts made for 2014 sportsters.
Oh WoW!!! I knew about the improved Braking System (and the now available anti-lock System) but wasn't aware that it caused the Exhaust System change. That really sux.. Now everyone has to retool for the change V & H, Rineharts, etc.
Yeah the changes did cause a difference but with the popularity of the Sportster and the fact that changing pipes may be the first mod most people do I am sure the aftermarket will catch fast or risk losing sales to competitors with available product.
So far I've only seen a single set from v&h an bassani each for the 14. I just got santee laf pipes with the 12mm o2 bungs an the juries still out. Super tight fit so we'll see. Any lower pipes going past the front sprocket will have probs with the new master cylinder location.
Is their a way to knock out the stuff inside the slip ons? I just bought a 14 72 and it runs so hot its rediculous. If you leave it at idle for more then 2 min the front header pipe will lgow orange and the heat next to your legs is terrible. Went from a 05 sporty 1200 and the difference is phenominal on how bad the exhaust sucks

Sounds like you didn't get a "Check-Engine-Light" when you changed exhaust, that's good....this is my first Harley and there's a LOT of heat there, wasn't sure if it was from the cylinders or the exhaust....
