I've decided my next project for the bike will be handlebars. I'm leaning towards biltwell zed or Frisco. I think a lot of people go with friscos so I kind of want to try the zeds. Here are a few pictures I found of 48s with zeds, sorry about the quality they are screen shots from instagram because there are almost no pictures in the forum.

There are more than a few people that believe (and post on the forum) that the lowering blocks put an unhealthy stress on the shocks. This is incorrect.

What is correct is, because there is more leverage on the shocks that the ride will improve some as the shocks absorb the bumps better. This of course makes the shocks work a bit harder, but that is what they are made to do.

Zed's are good looking bars. Whatever bars you choose, you want them to be comfortable on longer rides. Below is a link on how to choose the perfect handlebars that you may find useful-

Those look nice on the 48 but I'm pretty short so I think I need to stick with something under 7-8".

Thank for that suggestion, so simple yet for some reason I didn't even think to do it. I'm also probably going to try and fab a cardboard cutout based on the dimensions listed on Biltwell's website.

This is what it looks like with a 5'11" dude (me) and 10" Z bars...

Of course it all depends on how high you'd like your arms and hands and what look you're going for. Comfort wise the 10" are really good, but not as good as my 14" apes! I believe that it's a misconception that apes are uncomfortable.

JBarbaresi,

"It was too cold to ride so I instead I did what everyone else does to a brand new bike on day 2 of owning it, start ripping it apart."

Please exclude me from this "everyone" person you speak of.

I've got DK lowering blocks and Frisco's on my bike. Both are awesome. Whatever bars you go with, wire them internally. Can be a pain in the *** but totally worth it.
