Default Iron 2014 .. Has anyone had a problem with the neutral light

Has anyone had a problem with the neutral light NOT WORKING ...

I took it to a mechanic and after they checked everything , the only option was that the chip was not working ...So now i cannot check if it is in neautral without starting it up and seeing if it is in gear by letting the clutch out ..?

Anyone else ?

Use the warranty and have em fix it. If there is a wait on the parts....roll it back and forth, that will let you know if it's in neutral.

It's pretty easy to find neutral without a light, ever ridden a dirtbike? Click the shifter all the way down, then slightly up, that should do it.

The OP lives about 700 miles from the dealer, IIRC. He's already had shift and clutch issues.

Is the neutral indicator a replaceable bulb or LED? Maybe it just burned out.

It is a hardwired white LED. One could probably get the same size LED and splice it into the harness. All the indicator lights are white, and there is a film that gives them the different colors.

First thing I would do is use a multi-meter to see if it is getting power....it could be the wire is compromised somewhere between the neutral switch (which I believe is located near the front drive pulley) and the light.

Man, I'm sorry to hear you're having so many problems with a brand new Iron. I bought a 2014 and I'm not having any issues. Then again, I'm barely out of my break-in period. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come!

In any case, if you have a voltmeter I'd check to see if you're getting voltage to the light socket when you are in Neutral. If so, you've got a bulb burned out. If not, then I'm afraid to say you should make that journey back to the dealer...

Thanks everyone , Yes John about 700 miles to the dealer ...

That is why i had them check every connection one by one ...that was a great way to spend 3 hours ....but i want to make sure before i walk in there complaining ...we isolated right down to the sensor ....and then all the way back ..At least the expert near me is only 80 miles ...160 miles round trip ..

Putting it in neutral and rocking it all the time ...that is what i am doing at the moment .. i can live with it ....until i go on another road trip ....so now i have 2 reasons for a road trip to pick up passenger pegs and now this ...

This should have been a pleasurable experience but the attitude i get from HD dealer is not pleasant ..
