Default putting a bigger wheel.tire on my 2000 xl1200C

good day Riders.

I have a 2000 xl1200 custom that I am wanting to see if I can take the 21 off of the front and use a bigger wheel/tire combo. Kind of like the newer Sportsters. would it be as easy as buying a new wheel/tire and putting it on? could I use the same fender etc? I like the look of the bigger wheel/tire on the newer sportsters.

thanks in advance.

Looks to me like you would have to put a new fender on -- not sure but it just looks like it wouldn't fit. Im always looking to learn something knew- Keep searching the form to find your answer. let us know.

The switch isn't that simple..... You have to change the whole front end as they are totally different.

If your buying a new rim it is that simple. Are you wanting to go to a fat 16 or 18? Hit up hog pro our your local Indy that sells DNA is even better. Tell them year ( for hub size) and size/ width of rim you want. Wait a few weeks til it shows up and install it. I'm not sure on the fender but in most cases the od of any rim tire is close to the same until you get into 23's n stuff.

The newer Sportsters that I think you are referring to, use a "mid glide" front-end vs your "narrow glide" front-end. The spacing between the forks is wider.

You can install a mid glide on your bike, but it's not a cheap mod. You'll need new triple trees, wheel, wheel spacers, tire, fender, etc.
