A Sportster isn't supposed to be a "Touring" scooter. I had one years ago ( 1976 XLCH and it served me well ) Don't get me wrong, it's a great bike. I see it as another marketing ploy by the Mothership. It amazes me that they discontinue certain models then come up with these "packages" that try to fit s specific niche that is very small.

Been There - Done That
I had a 08 883L with quick detach windshield, locking bags, forwards and A SUNDOWNER SEAT, essentially the same bike they are touting. It gave me the ability to pack a light load and add a passenger, with comfort. I think they are on to something. Time will tell. It's not a "starter bike" IMHO! Of course, once the bike hits the road and ends up in a lot full of full size tourers, the passenger may opt to push the rider to "upgrade" to a larger more plush bike. That's how it worked for me!

Here's a different way to "Tour".
1-up the Sporty does just fine where ever you want to wander (Tour).
