As long as most of the add-ons are detachable I think they will do very well. While it is nice to have bags and such when traveling sometimes you just want to run around naked.

You mean my wife wasn't supposed to tour 17,000 miles on her Sporty last year? Damn that woman !

I Think this was very smart of Harley, since most dress up the sportster to be a touring anyway,,,, plus this is something the metrics just don't do,,,

its not my cup of tea but,, personally I'd like to see special paint jobs, maybe a blacked out custom, I use mine for local commuting so I'm not interested in the touring model but I think its really smart...

now I wonder if this means they are adding a 6th gear? because that's what the sportster really needs to be a touring,,,, or maybe they just made 5th gear higher?

I really don't understand the touring thing, I don't like the idea of doing hundreds of miles a day on a bike... if you really want to do that I really would want a road sofa with an infotainment system...

It does make it pretty useful. I've got a 20 mile round trip commute. Like the bags for my work stuff, and any stops on the way home. Gives me a place to stow the A.M. layers! I've got a neck problem, from a C6 fracture, so I kinda need a windshield. Anyway, for local use, it's a pretty nice package...

It's just an XL1200C with $1150 worth of accessories.

Bags and windshield aside, it's a 1200 version of the Superlow, different front end than the 1200C. Then again, it'd be cheaper to get an 883 Superlow and put in a 1200 kit.

You dont need a 1200 on a touring sportster. I load my 883 to within a pound of GVWR and it does perfectly fine pulling any mountain or passing. The 883 has a mileage advantage. It will go 80 all day, and if you are west the Mississippi you could do 100 between fill ups and barely see any others on the road and never a trooper.

1200 would be good for one thing only on a touring sporty. Thats when it is parked in the garage showing off to visitors or when you roll it out to wash it and tell the neighbor.

Just my observation, but the only reason a larger tourer would be needed is if the rider is severly out of shape and obese and need a larger bike to off set the does this bike make my *** look fat factor.

Instead of the ugly, two-up seat, Harley should have put a solo on the bike with an adjustable backrest. A touring model without available factory cruise control?
Agreed..

Your 883 will go 75 mph up an 8% grade for 3 miles without needing to down shift while fully loaded?
