Trying To figure out Carb bogging problem
I just completely rebuilt my carb and replaced the jets same size as before 45/175 I did change to a CV performance Velocity Emulsion Tube. After getting it together I have a new problem. I have some problem with it bogging at low idle. After it warms up I take it off choke and it idles fine, but when i give it gas with it in gear it works fine it will only bog down real bad when I put it in gear and roll the throttle it bogs down almost dies.
I had a problem last fall if it sat a day or two I had to crank the crap out of the throttle to get it to start. If I ran it everyday it started fine.
I sprayed starting fluid around the intake no change in idle at all. I did replace the carb to intake gasket also no change there either when spraying starting fluid.
2 1/2 turns on my idle adjustment screw when I rebuilt it.
The only thing that I changed was I moved the choke cable to the top of the carb with a CV performance bracket.
1994 XLH883 Pingle high flow petcock 5/16 fuel line to carb flowing fine.
Any Help Here Please.
TIA

Please list in general everything you did during this complete carburetor rebuild. If you may also, please describe in more detail what you mean by bogging? Do you experience anything else during this bogging such as any popping sound or ticking sound, etc? You said this problem occurs during roll on. When during roll on? LOW rpms, MID rpms, HIGH rpms?
Here are some several things I would do to diagnose the problem.
1. Trying turning the idle adjustment screw to extremes such as 1.5 turns and 3.5 turns. See if that makes a difference.
2. As Flst06 mentioned, swap your CV emulsion tube with the original one and see if that makes a difference.
3. Depending on when the bogging occurs (LOW/MID/HIGH rpms) I would swap out the corresponding jet (Idle jet-LOW rpms , Main jet- MID/HIGH rpms) and see if that makes a difference.
Here are some more questions for you since I do not know exactly what you did during the carburetor rebuild.
-Did you shorten the spring? Replace it?
-Did you check that the diaphragm was not pinched? (Suction sound occurs with no pinches)
-Does the needle have any play? (Gently try to wiggle it)
-Is there a squirt of fuel coming from the little accelerator "tower" within your carburetor? (Turn the throttle and you should see it squirt a steady solid stream)
-Did you replace the accelerator diaphragm?
In the end it is going to be a case of being too rich or too lean.
-Do you smell excessive unburned fuel coming from the exhaust?
-Is there smoke coming from the exhaust?
-Do you experience any backfires through the carb?
-If it is constant enough, maybe you can make a video with you experiencing this bogging effect

Ok I went thru the same thing. Make sure your needle jet is sticking up into the carb venturi. There shouldnt be much space between the Jet needle and the needle jet.
it should look like this
When I put my needle jet in intially it was flush to the venturi not in it. Caused major bogging. Dont try to screw in the emulision tube hard. It should just pop up there. If you got it wrong it is becuase it is hung up in it's bore
Here in this video it is in wrong. notice the difference?
