Default Replacing Speedometer on 2012 48, problems?

I had a little accident and need to replace the speedo but I had heard somewhere that to replace it you need programming with ecm and some dealer resetting otherwise its gonna give an error?

Does anyone have any info on this or done it before?

You should be able to replace it yourself. You can buy the tach/speedo combo and swap it out yourself with no problems. You have first hook it up to the ECM to get the mileage set on it, it will come with the cable that you need. It should be the same with a stock gauge too I believe.
