Default Fender Rivet removal

I've been doing alot of reading about the fender chopping and this weekend started to tear into my nightster. I ran into the wiring harness/mud guard/license plate bracket, that is riveted onto the fender. My question is how do you remove the rivets in order to get down to the bare fender before cutting it?

Also for the the guys who cut their fenders, when you shortened your brake light/turn signals did you just cut and solder the wires back together, or just put a new set of connectors on?

Thanks

Yea, 1/4 inch drill bit should take care of them.

For the wiring, un-do the OEM connections & pop the wire leads out of the connector by putting a small pin in & pushing the hold bar down....The wire will slide right out of the connector & you don't have to cut/solder any wires.
