Default Arlen Ness fairing for a forty eight

I have a 2011 sportster forty-eight and I've been looking to get a direct bolt on Arlen Ness fairing. Which one will fit my bike, and am I going to have to do any mods?

Looks to me as if the only one that will fit a Sporty is their "Direct Bolt-On Fairing for Dyna / Sportster", which is: a complete bolt on kit for a smooth and easy installation. Sounds almost too good to be true!

Their "Original Fairing Kit for H-D" is a possible alternative, but I suspect it will require some creative effort to fit, unless an owner of one can tell us more!

I just bumped into this alternative, by chance. May be worth considering, also cheaper than the Ness one.

I just spoke with my local Harley dealer, and they said I'd need to do a gauge re-locator first. Then, any of the sportster ones should fit.

After looking at my bike and thinking of my options I think I may have a solution. I was told that the stock harley fairings and arlen ness fairing would not fit my bike because my speedometer is too close to my headlight. What if I just get a headlight extension block, and I extend my headlight out a few inches. Won't that give me enough clearance for the fairing? This is what I want.

I suggest you buy the fairing you prefer the looks of, knowing you MAY have to make mods. Both the Ness and H-D ones are intended to fit a wide variety of Sporties, so you may find yours is OK as it is. Trial fit first, to see if you have any clearance problems.
