But it locks up good now.
I want your opinion on the stock clutch on my 2012 Forty-Eight. I am currently getting it upgraded to an 88 ci and dont have anymore funds for a new clutch right now. Do you think the stock clutch will hold up until I can get a better one?

Just to give you some insight, I'm having the dealership do the 88 ci conversion for my 2012 Forty-Eight. After getting the parts at the shop cost price and the service manager knocking 400 bucks off of labor, I'm in the hole over 8,000 bucks. Getting the cost price saved me over 1500 bucks. So I would expect about half of that or so for the 1250 conversion but I'm not sure. Im just glad the dealership was willing to help me out a bit! I'll definitely keep supporting them for that.

Heres my saga....

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/sportster-models/845481-1200-conversion-or-just-buy-a-1200-a.html

I went with the dealer. With good reason... they guarantee the work and parts. Go with one of the "kits" that everyone is gonna shove down your throat and you are on your own if things get ugly. I ended up spending about 1300 total but, I did a lot leg work.

People are trying to get 6 million HP out of their engines and its plain silly. If you want a super fast bike... get a naked ducati... enjoy your sporty and take care of it. If you go to a dealer, keep the paperwork. It'll add some value if and when you try to sell it. A dealer converted boke with paperwork and hd parts will go faster, and maybe more $, than a Frankenstein bike that was done by some indy shop.

Yeah I saw that, but not everyone will have an honest dealer like that..

You got an awesome price/rate, but I think most dealers would quote you at least 8 hrs if not more.. It's what I've seen thrown around and what I was informally quoted by the techs at the dealer here..

An alternate choice would be to find a reputable indy, they usually have a cheaper labor rate and more experience with specific jobs (engine building/conversions) so it'll take them less time to do the job, therefor cheaper and maybe better than a dealer.

But always ask around to get estimates.

Had mine done at Charlie's HD in Huntington WVa. SE stage 2 kit, sepst, se stage 1 a/c, dyno time, labor cost me around $2400. Dyno'd at 73hp and 71fpt. Full review of service at dealer and performance of kit coming soon(after I log more miles). Got a few hundred miles on it so far and it screams. Runs smooth, accelerates hard, sounds good. A little hot high idle, but other than so far so good!
