Interesting. I don't have personal experience with the Short Shots, I just know my Forty-Eight is way louder than it was with stock pipes and I got great gains in performance with the Big Radius. My dyno sheet is on the dyno thread if you guys would like to check it out. So I guess it depends on what the OP is looking for... super loud or loud and good performance. But then again, I dont know how the pipes will differ in performance either so deano360 maybe you can shed some light on that for the OP. That would probably help more with his decision.

Screaming eagle II slip-ons. Skip all that pipe nonsense and stupidity that all these folks will try to get you into. Keep it simple.

Beastly sound minor bump in performance. ... no remapping/fuel packs and such...

Aren't 2 into 1 pipes the deepest/loudest sounding? Plus I have heard they have the best performance.

Everybody likes it a little different from the next guy or gal. I'm happy with my Straight Shot slip on's. I added some TTI's from DK and it sharped up the tone a little and seemed to help out on mid range power. No Dyno to prove it, but it certainly didn't hurt it.

I have no fuel pack or anything for remapping with my pipes. It was very simple, just slapped them on and got it tuned and have never had to do anything else. Pretty simple if you ask me and I got great performance and sound from them, but i guess thats just stupidity and nonsense. To each his own huh.

I believe it would help the responders if you defined mean a bit.

1. There is loud as in funny car spit and sputter until full throttle then loud like continuous lightning strikes.
2. There is mean as in rumbling at the stop light then voluminous roaring away like the older street rods (with-in legal limits obviously).
3. There is cool which needs further definition. For our own information are you a recent vet? in need of adrenalin rush? Might I suggest a M249 variant?

Well Ive read through all the post...good input everybody. I guess what I mean by "mean'' is I wanna be seen way before Im heard and then when I roll on by its jaws dropped and everyone is like "dang that little bike w/a chick on it is making all that noise" LOL
While I was driving the other day there was a guy who I heard over my music and I had to look to see him...he wasn't even close to my vehicle but the sound it made...He didn't have a sportster like me so I know that plays a part too.
