Thumbs down Broke my Brake! Dropped my Bike!

So this is bizarre!

I'm pulling up to a stop sign on a hill literally right next to my house. Went to do a full stop & whammo !!! My brake... well breaks!! My right hand came off the bike, it leans to the right & down it goes !!

Air filter crushed my right foot & my left shoulder is pretty sore. Didn't scratch the new paint job, just a little scratch on the crappy exhaust.

I go to look at the brake & you can see the discoloration by the pin where it had been cracked for a while... I just finished it off.

Luckily the Sporty is light so I could lift it up off me & it didn't hurt me worse. We'll see about the shoulder, good thing I'm a physical therapist!

I mean not to beat you up after this, but always use both brakes.
Had you already been engaging the rear one, besides a little WTF moment, you might have been able to save the day.

Good thing it wasn't when you really needed it, like some cage pulling in front of you!

Must have been cracked from a previous fall.
Glad you are OK.

Thanks guys for the support

It looks OEM

Theres certainly things I could have done better but I was pretty much stopped when it broke & I was on a decent hill so I was certainly on both but of course had to take it off the rear brake once I started leaning right but that made me go backwards

Just not cool !

Still not sure how you fall over after that, guess I just had to be there.

I could see it. You're expecting to be applying equal pressure on both grips when suddenly one side loses that pressure, the bars swing around unexpectedly and at low speeds, that won't exactly do wonders for your stability. Facing up a hill didn't help, I'm sure.

OP, your bike's got some character marks now. I love it when someone asks about a scuff on my bike and I get to start the story with, "You're not gonna believe this."
