Default Ist long ride since stage 1

It was finally a nice day to ride here in NY went for a ride after work. I finished stage 1 this past weekend but could only ride the bike up and down my street because the roads were still slopy. I rode it about 60 miles today and wow what a difference at first I had to stop after about 10 miles and readjust the idle mixture because the bike was bogging down from a start after it was fully warmed up. I backed the idle mixture off a 1/4 turn and tuned the idle up slightly and now it runs great. Pulls hard from a start and keeps pulling hard until I let off at 90 mph. It also seem like I don't have to down shirt to 4th when I am crusing along at 45-50 mph it will accelerate right up with out having to down shift. Best of all goodbye carb farts. I pulled the plugs and they are hard to read they look ok to me not fouled just a slight dark tinge in color, the gas formulas they use now make the plugs hard to read. If you haven't done stage 1 do it and let your Sporty breathe.

Glad you enjoyed your long run, 60 miles? Anyway it's good to hear from someone who can fix their scoot on the side of the road.

I was afraid to rejet the bike at first but I printed out instructions and took the carb off and did it last weekend and was happy the bike started after I was done. Now I wish I had done it last year, and a little tune up along he road no problem.

Im glad your stage one worked out well.Im doing mine this weekend and was a little worried about it.Im going to run the same jets. How many turns do you have the idle mixture screw set at?My bike dosent start pulling hard until 4000-4500 rpms Im hoping it gives it more low rpm guts.

From what Ive been reading if it starts poping on deacceleration its running lean.I adjusted my idle mixture screw out some and it lessened it, but didnt get rid of it.Thats one reason Im changing to bigger jets.I heard the 48 pilot jet is the way to go but maybe you could get some more adjustment out of it

I paid the "Harley Tax" on mine before I took delivery in 2005. I still get the carb farts on occassion, usually when I give it gas with the clutch pulled (warm), but the service guy said that this was pretty normal. Is it? Or could it be running better?
