Default Big Sucker and Vance & Hines question

Pardon my inexperience, but I have a question regarding Short Shots, Arlen Ness Big Sucker and Fuel Packs.

I see a few threads about this, but I wanted ask for opinions because I bought my bike with the exhaust already installed

I have a 2013 Forty Eight. I bought it new from the dealer and they had installed the Short Shots themselves, so I didn't have to do anything there.

I just ordered an Arlen Ness Stage 1 Big Sucker. My question is really if I would need a Fuel Pack with the Big Sucker. I'm not certain if the dealer did anything when installing the exhaust other than they stripped down the factory Air Cleaner. The back of it has quite a bit removed.

And if I do need to do anything, what is everyone's opinions on XIED's? My buddy installed them and loves them but he is running factory pipes with a S&S air cleaner.

thanks!

I can tell you I had all three on my old Fatboy Lo. Great set up. Fuel pak is easy install and set up.

If im not mistaken, regardless of what you dealer may have done to your air cleaner cover, the filter still isnt a high flow filter. The big sucker is.

If you are putting on a big sucker with the exhaust, def get a tuner of some kind.

Thanks for the input!

Are you both referring to the XIED's for the fuel management that you have used, or something else?

Does anyone have any experience or input on using XIED's with a Big Sucker and Short Shots at all?

There are tons of people that run the XIEDs and are perfectly happy. It all depends on everything you are wanting to do.

You can run the XIEDs with your setup, and they will work. For you, I would either recommend the XIED or the VIED.

You may also consider a set of thunder torque inserts to restore some power that might be lost due to the short shots.
