Default Discrete breather or breather bolts???

Im ready to order an outlaw high flow 587 air filter assembly from dk customs but cant decide if to have the discrete breather(hose and filter) or use the breather bolts. I know the hose and filter set up is better if you have a lot of oil blow-by but my bikes only done 3000 miles and has a screamin eagle filter set up at the moment but cant remove the filter to see how clean throttle intake etc is as on of the filter nuts is spinning in housing so will prob have to break it to remove. I see some comments about a fine mist from breather bolts going onto trousers etc which I don't really want
Anybody have this problem?? They look better then the discrete kit and would prefer them but gotta chose right as postage and customs charge is high for me.
Cheers

I really like the breather bolts and I have Zero mist or blow by unless I really run it hard. I have only seen any residue from mine when I cranked it up to 110 mph for a bit.
Normal 'spirited' riding and I get nothing.

I ran them for a season (5000 mi ) Love the look, but got misted on most runs. Seems it does it more if your a "downshift" type of rider vs a" brake" type. I'm a downshift type myself. I experimented over last summer. XL 2012C 20/50 Syn3

I'm thinking I might swap out of the breather bolts to the discrete breather. I ride in a lot of slow traffic in the mornings on my commute and just sitting there after a while of moving a couple of lengths, waiting a minute, moving again, etc, the steam coming out of the bolts gets pretty bad and stinks. You end up smelling like exhaust if you ride in similar conditions. If not, get the bolts.

Every bike has a different amount of oil carry-over, there are things that can be easily done to reduce the oil carry-over, as outlined in the HD manual....see the link below-

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/oil-a...f-my-bike.html

98% of the thousands using the breather bolts have no issues. Hard riding in hot weather may leave a very light film, but not enough to drip.

But if you are unsure of if you have excessive carry-over, and/or do not want to follow the HD recommendations in the manual (which are usually different than dealer recommendations), or if wiping down the air cleaner backplate every now and then is not what you want....I would recommend the Premium Discrete Head Breather System. It is a good looking system, and is an absolute that you will not have any misting or dripping, regardless of weather, oil viscosity, or how hard you ride.

I have been running this myself for a while on a couple of bikes and really like it.

I'm running the Breather Bolts on another bike, no misting or dripping at all.
