Default My Iron needs a new exhaust...no options

Hey,

I have been looking for all kinds of options for modding my new 14 Iron. Like many of you all, I decide one thing then decide something else.

What I don't understand is the lack of exhaust options for the 14.

Revzilla displays most all exhaust that fit the 13 will fit the 14. While JP cycles only shows a very few options for the 14.

What I think I have decided on, is stainless steel 2 into 1. I see a few options for the 13 but not the 14. Can anyone tell me why there are such limited options?

Also does anyone know if converters are removed, will you fail inspection like if you remove them from a car?

Somebody has a 2 into 1 bobcat in the classifieds. The 2014 have a different o2 sensor bung. I don't know what your state regs are but I think it is possible to run pipes without the o2 sensors but you will need a proper tune. Why they made the change I don't know.

I wonder if I could just splice in the older models 02 sensors.

Did they change the threads so that they are not cross compatible?

the 2014 changed a few things like the location of the rear brake master cylinder and the size of the exhaust 02 sensors. I was thinking of buying a 2014 Iron 883. I was hoping V&H was going to make there 2 into 1 tracker exhaust for it but there not. They will be coming out with two or three varieties according to there email in July. In the mean time D&D has the bobcat. Bassani has a couple of options.

Personally I think that the govt. and the manufacturers are going to make it harder and harder to mod the exhaust as the years go on.

Default I moded old ones

I bought some stock slip on mufflers from a 2012 72, modified them to fit my 2014 Iron, and drilled out the baffles! Sounds like a real HD now!

HD added the catalytic converter on the 14 Sportsters, that's probably why there arent too many options out there now. I like the stock look so i was happy to replace my mufflers with a non cat muffler. If youd like i can post pics of the mod process if that helps!

Just ordered a set of slip ons yesterday.

They got good reviews, both here and on sellers review pages.

I'd love to see the how-to on this as well. I have a 2014 Iron 883 (CA). Screamin' Eagle seems to be the way to go to complete the Stage 1 mod; SE air cleaner, SE download, and eventual slip-on. In reading all this it sounds like the slip-ons have the CC's welded inside, i.e. not removable however the baffles are a different story. Hard getting information about baffle choices from SE. In lieu of the SE A/C I was looking at the Arlen Ness Big Sucker. Their backplate appears to be a better design than the SE backplate (IMO). Just hope my dealership won't give me a stink in installing any non-SE Stage 1 items. Thoughts? Thanks for all your knowledge and experience!

True! It is pointless imposing EPA restrictions on new vehicles if Joe Public is allowed to remove them as soon as the vehicle is out of the showroom. I also cannot see that lasting for ever. Mod while we may!

I just installed 2014 bassani firepower slip ons on my 48 and really like them. If you are looking for loud, deep, and good performance gains, can't do any better than these for the money, or probably even close.
