Hey all,
I just installed V&H short shot pipes with new silver, mesh gaskets at the engine. Is it possible/normal for there to be a small amount of smoke coming from the new gaskets? I can't believe that I'd have a leak at both ports. Thanks for any advice/thoughts shared!

 

as long as you've torqued them to spec and there aren't any kinks in the gasket itself, then yea a bit of smoke is normal.
Do yourself a fav though and after a day or two of riding, recheck the torque on those head nuts.

 

When I installed mine I noticed a bit of smoke on first start, but I thought it was coming from the O2 sensors from the anti-seize material. Whether it's the gasket itself, the anti-seize or a bit of thread lock burning off I wouldn't worry about it unless it doesn't go away.
