Ape Hanger Question?????

I think you can go either 8 or 10" mini-apes without going for new cables/brakeline etc. I put 8" buckhorns (on stock 6" risers) on my 1200 Custom and had to reroute both of my throttle cables and take them out from the triple tree opening. Actually that gave it a cleaner look IMO. Check out the last couple of entries in "What did you do to your Sportster today..." thread for the pics.

I wonder if I got the 12" would I then need to replace the throttle cables, wiring and clutch cable? Would be nice to get away not replacing! Maybe I am lazy or maybe I am cheap...or both!

12 inch is too high without changing cables. Also you will need to get special risers from loner industries or your bars will hit the triple tree nuts. A lot of people make this mistake. Check out zombie performance. They make some nice bars that you won't see on everyone else's bikes. I made my own 9" narrow apes but you can see how close they are to the nuts. I didn't need the risers.
