Default Crankcase breather puking

Hey all. I've got a 2000 sportster 1200 with about 16750 miles. About a week after buying it I replaced the air filter, I did the oil and filter change day one. Well a week later I noticed the puking. It's not enough at idle to notice it but you see it on the right side of the bike after a ride. I pulled the oil pump which looks good. Second thought is the rod that turns the pump. I didn't notice any wear or shavings on the pump that might indicate it though. Could the air filter or breather be clogged causing this? Possibly just a bad return hose? I did have to cut the old one because it was solid on the pump.

Appreciate the suggestions or return questions.

Look up Mike Reed thread, cheap and easy on this forum for 101 ideas. Do yourself a favor and plum the puke to the ground, its the nature of the beast. Leaving the oil low and the little button breathers will not eliminate the problem in the older bikes. The simplest solution is to jam a small piece of air filter foam into the bottom side of your stock air cleaner and clean it once in a while.

First, make sure your oil level is right. If its too high it'll do this. I run mine so it juuust barely touches the dipstick. Then Google sportster crankcase breather mods. Do that and you'll be golden.

I'll be putting the pump back together and in the bike today. Need a new return line since it wasn't coming off the pump I just cut it. Keeping the oil so low sounds scary but I've seen people mention to keep it low before. Will give it a shot and check out the breather mods.
