Lots of good discussion!

If I was touring a TON with 2 people you're right, I'd consider a move up. If I was riding 2 up a lot more often, I'd consider upgrading the shocks as well. For 5 rides at most per year with a passenger I'd stick with the stock sporty.

95%+ of my riding is solo & theres no other bike I'd enjoy riding more than the Sporty.

I just purchased a 2014 Sporty 883 SuperLow. I have read/ heard all the "You're gonna outgrow that bike in less than a year" or "That's a chick bike" stuff. I really don't think so. I suppose if I were riding 2 up and had 100 lbs of luggage to carry for 500 miles a day that may be true. But I ride solo (the wife has a Spyder RTS) and travel light, and so far the Sporty meets all my needs and then some. It's a blast to ride, has plenty of power and torque and I don't have to struggle to push it around. I bought my bike for the looks and the sound, and made a great choice.

Rog48 is my hero! No need to ride a half ton behemoth. Even if you ride 2up with luggage. The Sporty will haul you, the OL, and plenty of baggage just fine. And it'll do it without feeling like you're riding a F'ing steam roller!

Just rode 2 up for the first time with the wife. Before we left we went over all the basics and I made sure she had it memorized (she had also been studying my course book from the MSF class). Took her for a short ride around the neighborhood. She has never even ridden a bicycle so I thought sheīd be scared to death of riding the motorcycle. I was absolutely shocked when she wanted to go Ļon a real rideĻ. I didnīt take her on a highway, but we had a nice 100 mile round-trip ride cruising between 65 and 70 mph.

Donīt know why anyone says the Sporty canīt ride 2 up. We didnīt run into any shock issues where she felt like she would fly off and I never felt like I didnīt have the power on the bike to pass cars when needed. We had an absolute blast and she is completely addicted. Itīs a 1200cc but I donīt see myself or her really needing any more than that. Everyone keeps telling me Iīll move up to the big boy bike baggers but I donīt see it happening anytime soon. If you get the chance, definitely ride 2 up with the old lady!

Awesome!

Folks who say 1200 cc isn't enough are the same riders who say a 600 cc sportbike isn't enough because it'll "only" do 150.

You and your lady have fun!

I tried and tried to make my sporty better for 2 up. Bought all the right stuff but just was no seat room. One ride on Dyna and sporty went bye bye. To me my dyna is just a big brother to my sporty with just enough extra room to make 2 up better. For myself it would be a toss up but that extra 30 cubes is nice in a bike that's 80 lbs heavier than my sporty.
