im sure its been asked before, but i dont have any luck finding it...but is a nightster/iron tank a direct swap onto a 48 without any modifications?

as long as its an EFI tank (which the nghtster/iron is) youre good to go. the only fitment issue you might come across is if you have a aftermarket seat, but majority will line up without a problem.

so if you went with an aftermarket seat, you would want to make sure it fit a nightster/iron then?

i was thinking the mustang day tripper.

one other question if you know, i was reading a few things changed on the 2014...is the tank hookup, fuel pump, (tank related stuff) the same as previous year FI stuff?

as for the seat fitment, correct. certain seats will form up close to the tank, so when you put the larger tank on it may have fitment issues there.

and from what I've read, only thing like the exhaust mounts have changed.

Most seats from Harley Davidson and some other vendors fit both the 2.1 and 3.3 gallon tanks due to their similar shape. When I fit my 3.3 Iron tank my seat was closer to it but there was still room on the backbone. You'll be fine so make the swap!

I ordered a primed iron/nightster 3.3 tank for my 2014 Forty-Eight, it fit fine. You want to have a seat that is made for the 2.1 or 3.3 tank. See my sig pic. It has the 3.3 tank that I put on.
