Iron 883 mini fairing
Hey folks, I'm new to riding, new to Harley's and new to the forum of course. I recently purchased an iron883 and I'm wondering if the mini fairing are just for aesthetics or if they actually block/deflect wind very well? When I get up around 70mph the wind is not too bad but would like to have at least a little bit of deflection. Please let me know what you're thoughts are.

had a fly screen. got it for the same reason, and it made a big difference. I recently got a memphis shade 1/4 and its better. I would stay with the fly, but my weekend rides are way over 200-300miles and you're right the windshield just doesn't seem right.
I have noticed that the memphis is more susceptible to cross wind over 75 than the fly.
I don't even want to know how it is with a larger fairing.

On my 2007 XL1200R, I had a National Cycle Fly Screen. On my 2014 XL1200X I have the Harley Compact Sport Deflector. Both of these can be adjusted. I like them as they take the wind off my chest when traveling 65-85mph. I wear a full face during winter and a 3/4 helmet with face shield the rest of the time. I just don't like big windshields on Sportsters. Really only wanted to get to the point that I get enough wind relief so I am not fighting the wind or hanging on to the bike. That's what they are for. Don't expect complete wind deflection like a big shield.

Memphis shades gauntlet fairing. Didn't know if I'd like it until a couple rides after putting it on... the look has grown on me, and it works beautifully. It cuts the wind on my hands and chest so I'm not fighting at 65-90 mph. Love it and won't ever take it off
