When I did my Hammer 1250 I noticed definitely less vibration which surprised me. I asked Hammer about it and they said the cranks are the same between 883's and 1200's and HD balances them all the same for a weight thats in between the 883 and 1200 pistons and there 1250 pistons are actually a better match for the crank balancing than either one.

Do the Hammer kit you wont regret it plus Hammer has the big fin cylinders which cool better and look right. They know there stuff!

Also they have a big sale going on see there garage sale page 1250 kits only $450 in blems.

I am thinking of upgrading to the 1250 on my 2000 883 and had some of the same questions/concerns. This helped ease my worries.

I did it to my 2000 883 hugger...you will not be disappointed ..while you are there install big valves and cams a new spark controller and you will be able to keep up with the big boys,,or should I say they might be able to keep up with you!!!

I come from the Dyna Glide side of the house and think the 1250 is the best bang for your buck. I did notice as soon as it was complete and on the four lane, a six gear would be an amazing thing to have.

for the guy with the 2000 883...I don't think the big fin jugs will work for you...although i can not remember exactly why....or i should say they will work but you have to modify them some...but, it is not an issue as you can get the small fin jugs...
