i bought long stem mirrors from jp cycle for my superlow and they make a world of difference in traffic, the extra vibration is mainly at idle but it's worth it to be able to see behind me
I too bought the long-stem mirrors, now I can see over my shoulders instead of looking at my arms and chest. I'll post pictures shortly, I like the visibility with them, the vibration is mostly at idle but no worse than the stock mirrors at highway speeds. Of course, they don't replace looking over my shoulder!
HD mirror extensions only place the mirror higher AFAIK, but to resolve the issue and have your rear view not obstructed by your arms, you need to move them laterally, to the outside.
I had looked at these extenders but decided on the long-stem mirrors instead. The extenders don't move the mirror far enough up AND out to see past my arms and shoulders, but the long-stem mirrors did the trick. The chrome HD long-stem mirrors cost only about $15 more for the pair than the Kuryakin extenders cost.

Can't wait to see the pictures. I agree, I don't count on my mirrors and look over my shoulder all the time. My main gripe is that I can't see the car on my tail. I have to lean to see them. Especially at red lights. Would like to know if a car is coming up to fast behind me while stopped.
Flip them and see if you like that. I had the same problem until I flipped them I see a lot better and I like the look better.
+1. I did this on my 1200 Custom with the 4.5 gallon tank and it is possible without hitting the tank. You just have to position the stem and adjust the mirror to see behind you before tightening. Here are pics at full left and right stop positions. Also have pics with the signals on the bars and after I relocated them to the top triple tree location. I had a friend help me get the same angle on both sides (cuz I'm a lil ****). The gap looks larger on one side due to camera position.
The only time my view is instructed now is on left side when I'm riding one handed. It is much easier and gives a full rear view. As Shawnryan mentioned I think it cleans up the profile as well.
I read they hit the larger tank of the super lows if you flip them, not to mention I know my right turn signal is definitely in the way.
I'm not sure what size tank you have but I put a King 3.3 gallon on my Forty-Eight and still have them flipped. you have to play with the adjustment a little but there doable and do not hit the tank. Flipped mirrors allows the rider to see past the mid section of their body for an unobstructed view.
You can also try Bar-End mirrors, a few of the guys on this forum have them..
