2014 iron vs 48
#11
How do you 48 guys like the fat front tire as far as handling? If I go with the 48 I would keep the peanut tank, I like the looks and do not mind the sacrifice with fuel capacity. On the other hand I do like the looks of the Iron especially amber whiskey color. I guess it will come down to a test ride and which one can be had for a better deal. Thanks for the replies.

I went to my dealer looking for a purple iron and it was just sold and getting picked up a bit later.
So I went in and looked around and there was a 2013 Blue sportster 48 sitting there with 2,000 miles on the clock.
It was more money , but I was trading a 2009 Ultra Classic in for the bike so it wasn't a big deal.
The bike was whispering to me , take me home , take me home.
I sat on it and the bars felt funny and the seat was kinda sorry looking , but I said can we take a quick spin on this thing ?
Sales guy says sure , let me get a plate.
I took it for a quick spin and the first time I let the clutch out and ran to second gear all I could think was THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN ABOUT !
Needless to say , I bought it right then and ordered a set of handlebars and grips and a rider backrest (I'm old).
Yeah the tank is little , costs me $6.00 to fill it every time.
I get more enjoyment from this stupid bike than I got from my last 2 touring bikes.
Get what moves you , don't settle , you'll regret it later ....
The wierdest thing about the bike is that I get more compliments than the last 2 bikes , and it's all younger people.
Go figure.

He's all too correct there. Don't go in to buy a new one expecting to be at what the website claims. I made that mistake and was shocked to find out my sub $10k bike was almost $12k
