Default S&S air cleaner fitment/ modification question.

Can an S&S air cleaner 17-0400 be modified to fit a 2011 XL1200X? The Correct S&S cleaner shows to be the 17-0448

The 17-0400 shows to fit the '66- '84 carbs. I know the efi doesn't have carbs but was thinking I could make a bracket that would make it fit.

I'm pretty sure that 2001 carbs through 2013 efi have the same bolt pattern.
The earlier carbs have a different pattern.
Something like this is what you would need.

I'm not exactly sure , but very much like it.
Then you have the head breather problem , different on the efi style.
I'm not sure it would be worth the trouble , the correct fitting unit does work well , I had one on my '09 Ultra Classic.
Call S&S , their tech support people are pretty good to deal with , I've used them before.

Thanks Mick. I found a pretty good deal on it but by the time I buy all the crap to make it fit, it would cost as much as getting a new one.

No substitute for the correct parts!
