Default 883 leftovers

I just recently did the conversion(883 to 1200). I have parts from the 883 leftover. Heads, cylinders, pistons, exhaust, and breather. All with about 1200 miles on them. My question is....what are they worth and who wants them? Black finish on heads, cylenders and breather. Exhaust. Is stock chrome. Thanks in advance for any advice.

The pistons make nice ashtrays for the shop. Put a magnet in the bottom and use one for paperclips/paper weight. You can make lamps out of the cylinders, or make 'em flower pots (chicks dig that). You might get a few dollars for the exhaust heat shields, but it's typically too expensive to ship an entire exhaust system. You could throw 'em on Craigslist for 100 bucks and see what happens, but consider yourself extremely fortunate to get that amount, and that's assuming the heat shields are included with the head pipes/mufflers. Maybe, if the stars are aligned, you can get 30-40 clams for the stock air cleaner, if the cover goes with the back plate. The heads are worth the most because they can be worked over for better flow. Shoot for 150-200 skins for the pair and see what you scare up.
There's a Sportster section in the Forum's Classifieds that gets pretty good traffic. Any dough you get for the parts just goes right back in the bike, so any is better than none and the Classifieds are free. Maybe do a search in there to see if any have sold. I would be very surprised to hear that you cleared 400 bones out of those take-offs. Stranger things have happened.
Good luck with the sale.

Thank you harleyscuba. Will definitely check out the classified section. Good ideas on the lamps.

One other thing: You can't go by what '08 and earlier 883 cylinders are selling for. Those cylinders had sleeves that could be bored out to make them 1200 cylinders. IIRC, it was '09 that Harley started using a different sleeve that can no longer be enlarged, so they can't be used on a 1200. Your cylinders are 883 cylinders. That's it. Unless someone needs to freshen an 883 top end (they could use their existing jugs), put it back to stock for sale (why?) or practice their powder coating skills (free parts are better when experimenting), there's not a big market.

I'm personally a fan of the hoarding method when it comes to parts (and only parts). I can't tell you how many times I've had something laying around from god knows what bike that has come in handy down the road for myself or a friend.

It's only a problem when the ol' lady starts yelling at you to throw out the **** and you start considering her things...
