Default Speed rated tires for my Harley

First of all you will have to excuse me, as I haven’t figured out all the in and outs of this place.

I have a 2010 Limited that the engine has been modified, and runs great. I have not had it dynoed, so I cant give you the numbers yet. My question has to do with the speed rating of tires. I have Michelin Commander II with and H rating of 130 MPH on the bike now, and as far as I can tell all motorcycle tires for my bike have this rating. Is anyone using a car tire, front and back, that is a V or a Z rated that will fit on my bike?

Please describe the good and the bad of your decision.

No - car tires are usually flat, motorcycles are radiused to facilitate traction in a lean for turning.

You get that bagger up around/above 130 mph and you'll have your hands full

Root cause of his problem is the Michelin Commander II's touting extended tire life at the expense of traction. I bought a set regretted it for 3 months then finally ponied up for a replacement set of Dunlops. Not sure I would fell good about giving those tires to anybody..... I didn't want my boys riding on mine with them which is why I took them off.

The bike runs fine a speed; I just have no desire for the tires to fall apart while surpassing their rating. I can either come up with a solution for the speed rated problem, or come to the realization that you just can’t go that fast, and it is just that simple.

speed ratings on tires are for extended periods of driving, not for a quick shot up and over

Seriously, are you saying you have had your bagger over 130 or that you expect to in the future?

My stage 2 RGU will not break about 120 - 125 going down hill with a tail wind.

IMO baggers that can actually break 130 for any length of time are rare as hen's teeth.

If we rode 'busas or some other type of super crotch rocket I would worry about the tire's speed rating, but for our bikes?
