Went to darkside and tire only lasted 5,000 miles

Think I titled my last thread wrong. I apologize for wasting another thread line. I just need some help here. Only got 5,000 out of my Pirelli p7 CAR tire. It's a 205/55r17 I was running about 39-40 psi. Was that too much? Should I try a different car tire and air pressure?
