Midnight adventure off the Tamiami Trail
It's 1:35am. We just got back from a mini-adventure. At 8pm we met at Cafe 27 and headed south to US41/Tamiami Trail. About halfway across, we pulled onto the Loop Road. It's paved about halfway, then goes to hard packed gravel. By the full moon, it was straight out of Jurassic Park. We stopped a few places where the woods opened to the water, where we could see the red eyes of gators in the water. We ate a few pounds of dust, and the bikes look like they fell into a vat of talcum powder, it it was a cool ride. There were no cars behind us on the way out, once we hit 41, and none on the ride back to town. Te lights were almost all green as we took Griffin Road back east. I like riding this late at night, for the freedom of open roads that are normally clogged with traffic during daylight hours. We are in the midst of a bazillion people, but for a few hours we had the Glades to ourselves.
A Fun ride indeed.

Nice ride the Tamiami Trail at night, especially when you don't encounter any deer, armadillos, etc. I'm up in Pasco, just north of Tampa, and late night riding we expect wildlife. Growing up in S TX was basically the same, you just never knew or know what what to expect crossing that pavement late night. Heheh
