You will have and absolute drag race on 75 north. Get in the hammer lane and go with traffic. Keep an eye out for sudden brake lights and slowing around Gainesville.
When you head west, no matter what route you choose, a lot of pine trees...
Hit Apalachicola for some good food and oysters

Thanks, I don't plan on taking 75 for long, any back roads north you can recommend?

take 75 to state road 50, west to 98 north, it will take you to us 19. arent any roads along coast from ft myers north. 41 would be a nightmare through sarasota and tampa. Could catch 19 in bradenton however going through st pete and pinellas county on 19 would be a pain and dangerous. cagers galore.

You can also stay on I-75 to Ocala, exit US 27.
In Williston, take Alternate US 27. This is a very nice ride. In Chiefland, you will merge back into US 98. Just stay North to Tally on US 27.

It's a hard 8hr ride direct route ... May I suggest you take 75 N thru Tampa and get off at 54/56 to the west and catch US 41 go north thru Brooksville-Floral city/ Inverness - Dunellon to Williston catch 27 west to 19/27 Chiefland on to Tally. This route should add about 1-1 1/2 hour to your trip. Make sure to put on fuel in Chiefland or Perry as 19 is a lonely road.
